Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the Diffdeck desktop application, published by IAM_DEV. By installing or using Diffdeck you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.

Licence

Diffdeck is licensed to you, not sold. Subject to these terms and to the terms of the store you obtained it from, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the application on devices you own or control.

What you may not do

Your files and your responsibility

Diffdeck reads the files you select and compares them on your own device. It does not modify the files being compared, and it writes a file only when you export a report to a folder you have chosen.

You remain responsible for the files you open with Diffdeck, for keeping your own backups, and for deciding who to share an exported report with. An exported report reproduces parts of the files you compared, so review it before sending it to anyone else.

No cloud service

Diffdeck is a self-contained desktop application, not an online service. It does not upload your files, does not require an account, and does not depend on a server we operate in order to compare files. There is no service for us to suspend, and no data of yours held by us to lose.

Purchases

Diffdeck is distributed through the Microsoft Store. Payment, billing and refunds are handled by Microsoft under Microsoft's terms, not by us. If you want a refund, please use the Microsoft Store's refund process.

Updates

Updates may be released from time to time to fix problems or add capabilities. They are delivered through the store you installed from. Features may be added, changed or removed between versions.

Disclaimer of warranties

Diffdeck is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the application will be free of errors or that its output will be suitable for any particular purpose.

Diffdeck is a tool for reviewing differences between text files. Do not rely on it as the sole check for a decision with legal, financial, safety or clinical consequences without verifying the result yourself.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAM_DEV shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use Diffdeck. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the application.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms restricts any statutory consumer rights you have that cannot be waived.

Termination

This licence ends if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the application. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — the disclaimers and the limitation of liability — continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised. The current version is always published on this page with its date at the top. Continuing to use Diffdeck after a revision means you accept the updated terms.
